At MCREW (McMaster Centre for Research on Employment and Work), we unite researchers from all six McMaster University faculties to investigate changing work, workers, and workplaces. Through an interdisciplinary approach, MCREW enriches our understanding of these transformations, fostering collaboration and innovation.
Our vibrant community thrives on regular meetings to exchange ideas, share insights, and plan impactful research. Each year, we host a conference spotlighting understudied workers, workplace transformations, and the future of employment. Our director, advisory committee, and governing board support us in our mission to conduct impactful research and foster meaningful partnerships with scholars, organizations, community members, and students.
Join us in shaping the conversation about the changing world of work.
The speed, breadth, and impact of changes to workplaces require new approaches to scholarship. To fully capture the experiences of understudied workers, and the effects of the changes to workplaces on them, we need perspectives from a variety of disciplines. We created MCREW so that researchers from across McMaster could come together to study critical topics and challenge established theories. By bringing together a wide range of evidence, MCREW will deepen our understanding of how employees navigate, adapt to, and resist changing workplace demands, and how worker behaviors and expectations affect organizations.
— Dr. Catherine Connelly —Director of MCREW
